HS 100 is easy to fly once you figure out the proper steps to synce everything. Still trying to get comfortable with controls. Gave it 4 stars due to some problems getting it to fly. Battery has to be fully charged to sync properly.

I was excited to see this was a GPS drone :-) I like that it has the ability to set the max distance and altitude along with the height using the App. It will return to the exact spot where it took off from when RTH is activated either automatically or when you press the home button. The snap in battery makes it so easy when it is time to install or remove it. I was able to fly out about 600ft and reached a speed between 15 and 20mph which is good when fighting a light wind. The GPS held position very well which helps when trying to video and not worry if it will drift away. The app works very well and also keeps track of your flights showing max height, speed and distance. They give you enough spare parts should you need them. I would suggest getting an extra battery so you can stay out longer when flying between charging. I will try to post some videos later so you can see the quality of the camera. Photos and Video can be started or stopped from the controller or the app. Both the controller and flight battery are rechargeable which is nice so you don't have to keep buying batteries. Also I did want to mention that the app has a selection for VR which takes the screen and turns it into 2 so if you want to place your phone into a set of VR goggles you will feel like you are inside your drone looking down. I have touched on many positive points of this drone and sure my Granddaughter is going to love it :-) If anyone has any questions please write and I will try to answer what I can. I own the Holy Stone F181 Chaser and the Holy Stone HS 110 W toy class drones. The HOLY STONE HS 100 (GPS) is a major upgrade in the Holy Stone toy class fleet. This drone is much larger than the other two.
Unofficially, on my kitchen scale, this unit weighs in at about 1.5 pounds, without prop guards, compared to 4 to 5 ounces for the other two, making this a much more stable unit. The HS 100 has GPS capability added. This feature eliminates the issue of the drone drifting away in windy conditions and allows the drone to hold steady with regard to altitude and distance from the controller. This allows the pilot to concentrate more on taking photographs than on trying to control drone flight.
The camera is motorized and can be moved up and down. This action is controlled from the transmitter. The 720P HD WIFI camera takes clear still and video pictures. The camera, though, does not have a gimbal. As a result, with the GPS feature continuously adjusting the drones’ position the fixed position camera mount makes for a lot of movement on videos.
This drone has a much bigger battery (15 mins flight time) and larger motors. This drone can fly to the 400’ U.S. altitude legal limit and 500 meter distance from the controller. At these distances, it is impossible to fly the drone by visual observation. You can’t see it let alone tell which direction it’s going. You need to fly here using the viewer screen on your smart phone. This is where a good WIFI connection (which this drone has) and the return to home features are critical. When you are at these extreme distances, all that needs to be done is to press the return to home button. The drone will fly back to its take off point and automatically land itself. The same thing occurs if the drone loses contact with the controller or starts running out of power. The risk of loss is greatly reduced here. I would recommend this drone to a friend.

A step up

After owning a few holy stone drones. And dji phantoms. I can say this one is designed more like the phantom 4 series.
Pro. Good camera in day light. Very bright light to help you know which direction to point at. Feels strong. It's has some of the features that $500 and above drones has. It's a step up from there other models.
Con: it can't be flown out of sight. The remote phone holder feels cheap. Night flying to capture videos needs to improve. If this drone drop down to $200 I think that would be the sweet price point.

Need to have a home return button

My first drone was a HS400. It didn't have the return home key or GPS. Needless to say, it flew off and has never been found. I just received my HS 100; it has the return key and GPS. I put it together in about an hour, downloaded the app, calibrated the gyro and compass, and now I'm ready to go. Wish I would have bought this one first.

I haven't had this drone for very long but I love it! Set up was a little difficult for me because I am new to flying drones but once I got it working I had a blast, it takes crystal clear pictures and video and it is very smooth. The auto take off and landing works flawlessly and the controls are very responsive. I haven't used all of the features yet like the follow me and gps but I can't wait to try them. Overall I would recommend this drone and so far I am pleased with this purchase.

Pretty tough to calibrate

Pretty tough to calibrate. Not sure if I got a defect. Finally got it and was able to fly it. Pretty sweet overall. Still a major rookie. Gotta get good so I can show my grandsons how to fly this baby.

The HS100 has everything! HolyStone left nothing out when designing the HS100. It has a very stable GPS positioning system which allows it to remain steady even in moderate wind speeds. That same GPS system will return the drone back to its point of take off so there is no worry that it will fly away.
The smart battery features a low voltage return to home failsafe. It can be charged by any standard cell phone charging usb. You can even use a portable power bank to recharge the battery.
The controller is also a first for HolyStone and features a internal rechargeable lipo battery. No more AA batteries to purchase seperately.
The APP is very user friendly and allows for live distance, height and speed readings. Other APP functions include a beginner mode which is on by default and keeps the drone within 30m until you are confortable. Great for beginners! HolyStone thought of everything and its all in the box for you. If you have any issues the HolyStone customer support team will be there to see you thru.
